This is the 51st Issue of Our Newsletter!

Reaching 50 issues over the past four years, without a single interruption, has been a truly gratifying journey. I hope other TSI members will now be inspired to take the baton forward and continue building on this tradition.

From November 28th to 30th, we’re excited to host our national conference, TELEMEDICON 2024, at PGIMER Chandigarh. After two intense months of planning and finalizing details, the program is now ready, and we look forward to an insightful gathering of leaders and innovators in virtual healthcare and AI.

This issue also highlights the Global Health Summit, led by our dynamic TSI member Dr. Rajendra Gupta and his dedicated team. Several of us attended this mega event, which took place at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Included in this issue is the complete program for TELEMEDICON 2024. We encourage you to review it to plan your travel and sessions of interest. We look forward to welcoming you to Chandigarh for this enriching event!

TELEMEDICON 2024 Program Overview

The 20th International Conference of the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI), themed “Virtual Healthcare and Role of AI,” will be held from November 28th to 30th, 2024, at the PGIMER Chandigarh. The conference will explore the transformative potential of AI and digital health in enhancing healthcare delivery, featuring a wide array of sessions, workshops, and plenaries.

Day 1: November 28, 2024 The conference begins with a session on “AI in Healthcare,” including topics like design, ethical considerations, and practical AI applications in healthcare content creation and prompt framing. The day continues with a plenary on the evolution of telemedicine globally and within India, followed by sessions covering the growth of telemedicine in fields like AYUSH, lifestyle management, and cancer care. Tele-ophthalmology and geriatric care are also discussed, emphasizing how digital tools can improve chronic disease management and elder care. The day concludes with an awards presentation and an inauguration ceremony, followed by a cultural program and dinner.

Hall B: Sessions focus on Ayush and Tele-Yoga, covering wellness trends, clinical trials, and national guidelines. Later, a session on AI in Tele-Dermatology and Tele-Rehabilitation will provide insights into advanced dermatological care and rehabilitation.

Hall C: A workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare introduces participants to foundational AI concepts, data processing, and emerging healthcare technologies.

Day 2: November 29, 2024 Day two highlights virtual practice through workshops on digital therapeutics, tele-consultation skills, and regulatory considerations. A session on ethical and legal issues in healthcare data management emphasizes privacy and protection. Various plenary sessions focus on tele-education, using AR/VR for medical training, and space medicine applications. The day also includes discussions on rural telemedicine and palliative care, followed by a panel on AI’s role in diabetic retinopathy and endocrinology. A gala dinner rounds off the day’s events.

Hall B: This day emphasizes AI in healthcare with sessions on AI in Medical Devices and AI in the ER. Other highlights include case studies from the National Health Mission, discussions on tele-pathology, and panel sessions on organ transplant technology.

Day 3: November 30, 2024 The final day covers critical care technologies and workshops on tele-ICU innovations. Presentations address AI’s applications in public health, especially in rural areas, mass gatherings, and emergency responses. The conference will also focus on AI’s role in mental health, sharing global insights with applications in India. Further sessions spotlight the e-Sanjeevani telehealth platform under Ayushmaan Bharat, technical standards for telemedicine, and India’s Health Stack. The day concludes with a valedictory function celebrating achievements in telemedicine.

Hall B: Nursing and telehealth are central, with a workshop covering digital health tools, legal frameworks, and mobile health apps for nursing. Advanced nursing practices are addressed through sessions on VR, AR, and AI applications in nursing education.

In sum, TELEMEDICON 2024 promises a comprehensive exploration of telemedicine, showcasing cutting-edge AI innovations and digital health practices tailored to various healthcare domains.

Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards 2024

The Global Digital Health Summit has, over the years, established itself as one of the world’s most sought-after forums on Digital Health. It brings together global leaders who have shaped the domain of Digital Health to engage in thought-provoking discussions about the future of healthcare. In India, it has grown to become the country’s largest healthcare summit, attracting nearly 2,000 attendees.

This year, the summit reached new heights by hosting:

    • The National Nursing Summit on Digital Health in partnership with the Indian Nursing Council.

    • The National Scientific Symposium on Mental Health, Human Rights & Digital Health, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission and the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences.

    • Enabling Next-Gen Digital Health Solutions through Google Technologies, hosted by Health Parliament.

    • One Health and the Role of Digital Technologies, in partnership with Brooke India and Mission Rabies.

    • The OHDSI India Symposium on Data-Driven Healthcare, in collaboration with OHDSI India and Global Value Web.

Key highlights of the event included an impressive lineup of global thought leaders such as:

    • Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Laureate and Founder & Former MD of Grameen Bank, as the Chief Guest.

    • Mr. Bernardo Mariano Jr., Chief IT Officer and Assistant Secretary-General, Office of ICT, UN.

    • Mr. Dino Cataldo Dell’Accio, CIO, UN Joint Staff Pension Fund.

    • Shri Bharat Lal, Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India.

The summit also featured senior clinician leaders, including presidents of leading medical societies, the President of the Indian Nursing Council, the Secretary of the National Medical Commission, and the President of the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council.

The themes explored included success stories at scale, the integration of cutting-edge technologies in hospitals, pharma, MedTech, and clinical practice, and leadership in driving transformation. This year’s summit was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in reshaping the future of healthcare.
