What is New?
August was an eventful month for digital health, with several developments highlighting how AI, digital platforms and connected healthcare are reshaping the way care is delivered in India.
The Army Chapter of the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) was established at RR Hospital, New Delhi, marking an important step towards strengthening telemedicine and digital health within the Armed Forces. The occasion was accompanied by an engaging two-day programme on digital health, organised by the Army, bringing together experts and stakeholders to discuss emerging opportunities and challenges in the field.
In another significant development, Chandigarh witnessed the inauguration of the Punjab Chapter of TSI, further expanding the Societyās presence and its efforts to promote telemedicine and digital health across the country.
Reports from both these important events are included in this issue.
TSI has also been recognised as an Ambassador by the National Health Authority (NHA). The certificate of recognition is published in this issue of the Newsletter.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited TSI to submit suggestions for framing the second version of the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines. We invite all TSI members to share their suggestions and recommendations by email. These inputs will be compiled by TSI and, we hope, submitted to the NMC ahead of our Annual Conference.

TSI Continues to Grow: Two New Chapters Inaugurated in August

The Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) continues to strengthen its presence across the country with the inauguration of two new chapters in August 2026 ā the TSI Punjab Chapter and the TSI Armed Forces Chapter.
The expansion of TSI chapters reflects the growing interest in telemedicine and digital health across different regions and sectors of the healthcare system. It also reinforces TSIās commitment to creating opportunities for professionals to connect, learn, collaborate and contribute to the advancement of technology-enabled healthcare.
TSI Punjab Chapter
The inauguration of the TSI Punjab Chapter marks an important step in strengthening TSIās presence in Punjab and creating a regional platform for healthcare professionals interested in telemedicine and digital health.
The chapter will provide opportunities for continuing professional development, knowledge exchange, research, networking and local digital-health initiatives, while connecting professionals from Punjab with the wider TSI national network.
TSI Armed Forces Chapter
The inauguration of the TSI Armed Forces Chapter is a significant milestone for TSI. The Armed Forces have unique healthcare requirements, including providing healthcare across geographically dispersed locations, remote and challenging environments, and to personnel who may have limited access to specialist services.
Telemedicine and digital health have considerable potential in addressing these challenges through remote consultations, specialist connectivity, digital health services, tele-education, remote monitoring and technology-enabled healthcare delivery.
The new chapter provides a dedicated platform for professionals from the Armed Forces healthcare system to share experiences, explore innovations and contribute to the development of telemedicine and digital-health solutions relevant to defence and remote healthcare settings.
With every new chapter, TSI expands its ability to connect professionals and create a stronger national community for telemedicine and digital health.
The addition of the Punjab and Armed Forces Chapters further strengthens TSIās geographic and sectoral reach and opens new opportunities for collaboration, research, education and innovation.

TSI Expands Its Strategic Partnerships: Building a Stronger Digital Health Ecosystem
The Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) is strengthening its national digital-health network through new strategic partnerships with the Digital Health India Association, GovernAI, and CHARAKA ā Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech & Assistive Technologies, Government of Karnataka.
These Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) mark an important step in TSIās continuing evolution from a society focused on telemedicine to a broader professional platform addressing digital health, artificial intelligence, innovation, research, education, policy and technology-enabled healthcare transformation.
The healthcare ecosystem is changing rapidly. Telemedicine is no longer an isolated technology-enabled service. It is increasingly connected with artificial intelligence, digital health records, health information exchange, remote monitoring, data analytics, medical devices, health-tech innovation, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship and new models of healthcare delivery. No single organisation can address all these dimensions independently.
These new partnerships bring together complementary strengths and create opportunities for TSI to connect its members with a much wider network of healthcare professionals, technology experts, researchers, innovators, policymakers, academia and industry. Collaboration, therefore, is not an optionāit is a necessity.
Expanding the TSI Network
TSI has always believed in bringing together clinicians, technologists, researchers, policymakers, healthcare organisations, academia and industry. The new partnerships strengthen this approach by connecting TSI with organisations that bring complementary expertise and capabilities.
Digital Health India Association
The partnership with the Digital Health India Association strengthens TSIās engagement with the broader digital-health community. It provides opportunities for joint initiatives in education, professional development, knowledge exchange, research, conferences, capacity building, advocacy and development of digital-health registries and resources.
For TSI members, this will help create greater opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and participation in national digital-health initiatives.
GovernAI
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming an integral part of healthcare. TSIās partnership with GovernAI strengthens its engagement in the emerging field of responsible and ethical AI in healthcare. The collaboration provides a platform to address important issues such as AI governance, privacy, responsible implementation, clinical relevance, safety and trust.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into telemedicine, clinical decision support, diagnostics, medical education and public health, TSI has an important role in ensuring that technology remains patient-centred, evidence-based, clinically meaningful and responsibly governed.
CHARAKA ā Government of Karnataka
The collaboration with CHARAKA ā Centre of Excellence for HealthTech, MedTech & Assistive Technologies, Government of Karnataka, brings TSI closer to the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
CHARAKA is a Government of Karnataka initiative supporting innovation across HealthTech, MedTech and AssistiveTech and works with startups, industry, academia, healthcare providers and policymakers. Its ecosystem includes areas such as digital health, AI in healthcare, medical devices, diagnostics, clinical research, validation, regulatory affairs and commercialization.
This partnership can create opportunities for TSI members to engage with innovators and technology developers, identify real-world healthcare problems, participate in innovation programmes and contribute clinical and domain expertise to the development and validation of new solutions.
It also provides a potential pathway from āproblem identificationā to āinnovationā and ultimately to āreal-world implementation.ā

The success of these MoUs will ultimately be measured not by the agreements themselves, but by the opportunities and impact they create for TSI members and the healthcare community.

The signing of these MoUs is only the beginning. TSI will work with its partners to translate these institutional relationships into meaningful programmes, research initiatives, educational activities, innovation platforms and opportunities for its members.
AAROGYA.BYTES 2026 BRIEF

AAROGYA.BYTES 2026, a two-day seminar on Digital Health, on 1ā2 August 2026 was organised at United Services Institute, New Delhi. The seminar was conducted with the aim to provide an opportunity to share and learn best practices and newer developments in the field of Telemedicine, Digital Health Standards, Healthcare Data Privacy, and the Governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. The AFMS Chapter of the Telemedicine Society of India was also launched during the event.
The seminar featured substantive deliberations on the evolution of telemedicine in the post COVID 19 era, its innovative applications, and the associated Telemedicine Guidelines. The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act also featured prominently, with legal experts offering critical perspectives on its implications for digital health. The event concluded with a dedicated day-long session on HL 7 standards, conducted under the aegis of HL 7 India.
National Assessment of Telemedicine Consultation Services in India
The Telemedicine Society of India (TSI), in association with the Digital Health India Association, is conducting a National Survey of Telemedicine Consultation Services in India.
The survey aims to understand the current landscape, scale, utilisation, service delivery models, market trends, opportunities and challenges in telemedicine consultation services across India. The assessment excludes the Government of Indiaās eSanjeevani platform.
The findings will support:
Assessment of the Indian telemedicine market and emerging trends
Identification of opportunities and challenges
Development of recommendations to strengthen telemedicine services
Creation of a National Telemedicine Registry and network of Telemedicine Service Providers
Facilitating knowledge sharing, collaboration and networking among telemedicine service providers
Who should participate?
We invite doctors, hospitals, digital-health platforms, specialty providers, corporate healthcare programmes, NGOs and technology-enabled healthcare organisations providing telemedicine consultation services in India to participate and also doctors/hospital not providing telemedicine consultation services.
Wherever possible, please provide information for FY 2025ā26 and FY 2026ā27 (if available).
Time required: Approximately 7ā10 minutes
Individual organisational information will be used strictly for research and market-analysis purposes and will be appropriately aggregated for reporting wherever required.

Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) ā ABDM Readiness & Support Survey
Dear Friends,
The National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India, has recognized the Telemedicine Society of India (TSI) as an ABDM Ambassador. This recognition acknowledges TSI’s longstanding contributions to advancing telemedicine, digital health, and technology-enabled healthcare delivery across India.
As part of this important initiative, TSI is committed to supporting the awareness, adoption, integration, capacity building, training, research, and standards development related to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) among healthcare professionals, healthcare facilities, academic institutions, and health technology organizations.
As a responsible professional society dedicated to promoting telemedicine and digital health, TSI is launching a nationwide initiative to facilitate ABDM implementation and create a strong ecosystem of digital health champions. To effectively plan our activities and provide targeted support to members, we are conducting a baseline assessment of ABDM adoption within the TSI community.
We request all members to participate in this survey. Your responses will help us:
Assess the current level of ABDM adoption among TSI members.
Identify barriers and challenges in implementing ABDM.
Design focused training, mentoring, and capacity-building programs.
Support healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities in registering with ABDM registries.
Assist health technology organizations in achieving ABDM compliance and integration.
Develop a network of TSI ABDM Resource Persons and Champions across the country.
Strengthen collaboration between TSI and NHA in accelerating India’s digital health transformation.
